Rachel is a rising senior at Newport High School. She has studied two AP Computer Science courses, and competed in multiple hackathons. This summer, Rachel will also be writing PyaR programs for the NASA SEES internship to optimize extraction of emergency response data. Rachel loves expressing her creativity with app development, and is very excited to teach this class!
Through this 5 day program, students will build their own iOS/Android compatible game (and optionally share it on Google Play)! Students will learn the basics of C#, and how to implement scripts in Unity. This is an intermediate level course, so some prior coding knowledge is recommended.
Daily Description: Each day students will attend a workshop via Microsoft Teams, and receive detailed instructions at the end of the meeting for tasks to complete at home. Additional tutorial time will be provided from 2-3 pm for any student who has extra questions!
Topics: C#, Game Design, In-Game Physics, UI Implementation, App Publishing
Prerequisites: Prior experience with a coding language.
Materials: Students need access to a computer with adequate storage space. A week before class starts, students will receive an invite to Microsoft Teams, as well as instructions on downloading Unity and Visual Studio Code, which we will use to create our apps. BSD laptops block access to many coding interfaces, so they will not suffice.
