Eileen is a rising junior at Issaquah High School who has a passion for business and math. She is an active member of DECA and her school district's orchestra, Evergreen Philharmonic. She has taught violin to young musicians and enjoys working with children. In her free time, Eileen likes to play the violin and play tennis with her friends and family.
Surya is a rising junior at Issaquah High School, with a passion for both STEM related courses and the humanities. Surya is an active member of her school's DECA chapter. On the weekends you can find her volunteering for environmentalist groups, reading, or watching history channels. Surya has previously worked as a soccer coach, and as a math tutor. She enjoys being a mentor for children: helping their creativity shine while making lasting friendships with them.
Pre-Algebra will introduce and explore the foundational pre-algebraic skills used in many aspects of mathematics. Students will strengthen basic operation skills and apply them to more advanced topics, such as decimals and fractions. This class will focus on growing fundamental skills, problem solving, and reasoning. We will help students gain confidence in their math abilities and prepare them for algebra and higher level math courses.
Topics: Decimals, fractions, advanced multiplication/division, properties and classification of shapes, coordinate plane, basic algebra, PEMDAS, evaluating expressions
Prerequisites: Understanding of 3rd- 4th grade math, basic multiplication, adding, subtracting, dividing skills.
