Elaine is currently a junior at Newport High School. She loves writing short stories in her free time and also is quite skilled in writing essays as she received a 5 in AP Lang. She has experience teaching at NWCS in the summer english and gifted prep classes, and has taught/coordinated SAFE classes in the past. In her spare time, she likes to paint and play the cello.
Hanson is a rising senior at Issaquah High School. Having 3 years of local and international teaching experience, Hanson is currently a STEM and English teacher for many organizations. At school, he is actively involved in DECA, having attended state and international conferences. Last summer, Hanson studied at Washington Business Week.
In this third session of creative writing, the course will explore different literary genres and improve their writing skills with an increased understanding of grammar and literary/emphatic devices. Students will complete weekly writing assignments in the literary genre that was taught during class. Typically, these will be short stories between 500-1000 words.
Topics: Grammar, emphatic devices, personal narrative, fantasy, poetry, satire, etc.
Prerequisites: Students should have basic English and grammar knowledge and are adept at the language.
